Our alcohol home delivery bill – SB 5448 – was approved by the House of Representatives last week. The bill allows customer pickup of to-go alcohol and allows an employee with a class 12 permit to deliver alcohol with food. Third-party delivery is not allowed. The Senate needs to concur on House amendments before April 23 for the bill to go to the governor for signature.

There is encouraging news out of California where the Ninth Circuit ruled a city ordinance banning natural gas hookups in new buildings is unconstitutional. Lawmakers in Olympia proposed a similar ban for Western Washington to take effect June 30 this year, but our team was successful in preventing that bill from getting a vote in the Senate. Today’s court ruling will make it more difficult for proponents to introduce similar legislation in upcoming sessions.
