House Bill 1730

Minors working in 21+ establishments 

Position: Support


During the pandemic, the state Liquor and Cannabis Board (LCB) issued a temporary allowance that permitted minors to work in the back of house of 21+ establishments. 

This flexibility was needed as hospitality operators struggled to find enough employees to keep their businesses open. 

House Bill 1730 would reinstate a similar policy and make it permanent by allowing people 18 years of age or older to work in certain 21+ establishments.

L&I adds more webinars to explain job posting requirements

As of Jan. 1, employers with 15 or more employees must include a wage scale or salary range, plus information on benefits and other compensation in their job postings. The Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) hosts regular webinars to explain the new requirements and answer questions from employers.
