Action Alert: Ask lawmakers to support more funding for tourism marketing

The 2023 legislative session is underway and one of the association’s top priorities is to increase funding for state tourism marketing. House Bill 1258 would increase the state tourism funding from $1.5 million a year to $13 million a year.

HB 1258 is scheduled for a public hearing in the House Community & Economic Development, & Veterans committee at 10:30 a.m. today. The association will testify in support of this bill. We’re asking for association members to express their strong support as well.

Direct your tax dollars to support Washington’s film industry

Washington Filmworks has a unique funding mechanism which allows businesses to receive a dollar-for-dollar Business and Occupation (B&O) tax credit by making a cash contribution to Washington Filmworks in the amount of their B&O tax liability. Businesses can contribute up to $1 million annually to Washington Filmworks, which notifies the Washington State Department of Revenue.  The DOR applies the credit when a business’ taxes come due.

Contact Washington Filmworks Director of Operations and Finance Julie Daman at Julie@WashingtonFilmworks.org, or by calling 206-264-0667.
